Big news – You got this!

Most of us always went through job hunting at least once in our lives. But how it looks like when you’re in a short time pressure.

Basically what happened to me last Thursday…or let´s go further into the past…last month.

I was at the work lunch with my manager and we talked about my job at the current company. Basically i started my masters and second school and noticed, that i struggle to manage all of it at once with my full time job. So we talked how to make it better for me and company, and went to the agreement that maybe we can try to lower my hours to part time, or any other possible solution, where one of the option was that if we couldn’t find any solution then i will start to looking for another job, but they had to tell me in advance so i had enough time. Additionally that they will know what to do by the end of this month and tell me.

For information, here in Czech republic there´s two months notice policy (for full time jobs). Not only that but job hunting is very difficult here even for experienced people with good resume, sometimes you can wait 2-3 weeks for answer with invitation for interview or decline. Mostly they companies will ghost you completely.

So what happened last Thursday? It was end of the day when i asked manager how is it going, if he talked about it with CEO (we are very small company of mostly freelancers), how they decided or should i start to look for a job ect…. And he just looked at me with a big eyes and said “what do you mean? i though you said that you end here at the end of the month”…………

Yep, he though…HE THOUGH!!!! and i was like “No, i said it was last option and you were supposed to tell me how you decided” and he was like “i misunderstood then”

B*ch yes you DID!!!!

I was angry, but at the same time relieved, because this job elevated my blood pressure constantly because they always couldn´t find me any work during the most of days and expected to work above 8 hours a day for little money (pretty much sitting there looking out the window and expected that i will evolve with little to none training).

But aside from that, i was super stressed, because i had only 2 weeks to find a job, and as i said above, it´s very difficult to even receive an answer with invitation for interview not to mention getting a job.

BUT! i was VERY! LUCKY!

Today i had my first job interview and it was in field where i got my degree in, monetarily not that great but basically same as at current place so i can work with that (also i have afriend at the same position just at different place so i knew what to expect). The interview itself went very nicely and smoothly, we had a nice conversation with interviewers. They showed me the workplace and i went home (ehm to work actually, i wish i went home XD).

So i sit here at my desk, thinking where to put my resume next to have a multiple applications. And since interview at 10:00 am it was like 11:45 at most i received an E-mail from them that if i still want the job, they would like to make me an offer.

I was like “WHAT?!?!, this can´t be real, it´s not even 2 hours away from end if the interview WTH?”

I wrote them for clarity that i understood correctly that they want me for real and they said YES!

Guys i´m soo exited, like i said i was extremely lucky, like getting a job a the same day of the interview…and before you say to look out for scam company, it´s actually job in the government institution so they have to follow the payment criteria implemented by EU as the rules ect. So aside from not being able to negotiate the payment, the rest is completely legal and set. I accepted of course, i have no time to spare XD.

Also this blog is named “Questionable life choices” so i hope you´re entertained XD

So that is basically what happened today (or rather this month).

The morale of the story is, that you can´t always know where life takes you and when, the only thing you can do sometimes is to let the life guide you and sometimes it´s good to risk and go with the flow, even if it´s stressful. Also to not give up if anything goes differently from what you expected. You have the power over your life, even if others say you don´t.

You lost your job? who cares? Apply for another one, even if its not perfect job, you can work temporarily and search for something else in meantime to not lose income. YOU have that power and when you will realize it, life/universe/God/nature will help you to get through. You just have to believe in yourself. Yes it can be humbling but you CAN! do it.
